Law Enforcement Request Guidelines

1. Overview

These guidelines outline the procedure for authorized law enforcement agencies and governmental officials to request customer data, transaction records, or other relevant information from us. We reserve the right to amend these guidelines from time to time.

We are committed to complying with lawful requests while protecting the privacy of our users as per applicable laws.

We will review each law enforcement request (“Law Enforcement Request”) and cooperate on a case-by-case basis. Each case will be reviewed and processed by us in accordance with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, internal policies, and any applicable laws and regulations as applicable from time to time.

All law enforcement requests addressed to us must be in English and be sent to evidence@weex.com. Please be informed that we will not respond to any requests for user data sent by non-law enforcement personnel or when the requests are not sent to the abovementioned email address.

2. Content of the request

For us to consider your request, kindly write to us and ensure the following:

a) Proof of authority

  • an official government email address with a government domain must be used for all communication with us.
  • official case number or reference to the investigation.
  • a valid legal order such as a court order, subpoena, search warrant, or equivalent from a competent jurisdiction, with reference to the relevant provisions under the law.
  • full name, contact details, and official credentials of the requesting officer.
  • documentary proof that you have been authorized to submit the request on behalf of your law enforcement agency and that your agency has proper jurisdiction over the case.

b) Case information

  • a chronological summary of the alleged incident under investigation, including relevant facts of the case (e.g. any information about the suspected perpetrator and how the alleged victim was persuaded to make the initial transaction).
  • the flow of funds including all related wallet address(es) and transaction hashes (TXID), beginning with the initial transaction of concern (please specify the token type, amount, and blockchain used) (“Transaction Information”) in a copiable format (e.g., docx, txt, xls, or pdf), and explain how each transaction is traced to WEEX.
  • the total amount of funds in involved with a breakdown of tokens involved and the estimated value in USD).
  • any known information about the relevant user, such as their name, UID, registered phone number, email address, and identification number (“User Information”) in a copiable format (e.g., docx, txt, xls, or pdf).
  • any other information that may assist us to better understand the facts of the case.

c) Action required

  • clearly state the specific actions or items requested in the subject line of your email.
  • Information disclosure:
  • Targeted user information: Clearly identify the user(s) whose data is being requested (e.g., username, registered email, wallet addresses, transaction IDs).
  • Specific request: Outline the exact information you are seeking (e.g., account registration details, transaction history, IP logs, etc.).
  • Time frame: Specify the date range for the information you are requesting.
  • Other specific action required: such as freezing of the account or seizure of the assets of the relevant user, please attach relevant legal documentation (court order, warrant, etc.) supporting the request. We seek your cooperation in clearly indicating the duration of the freeze, or we may freeze the account for 30 days only.

d) Formality of the request

Please note that we will not be able to review the request submitted if

  • it is not in English. For non-English documents, please provide an authenticated English translation.
  • the transaction information and user information are not in a copiable format (e.g., docx, txt, xls, or pdf); and
  • the request is not formal and not duly stamped, signed and/or sealed (digital signature/seal will not be accepted).   

3. Submission of requests

Authorized requests should be submitted to evidence@weex.com.

Please ensure all requests are properly formatted and contain all necessary supporting documents.

4. Processing time

We strive to process all requests as quickly as possible. Standard requests that have met the requirements stated in Paragraph 2 will typically be processed within 15 to 20 business days. We reserve the right to request further information to assist with our assessment of the case. For more complex or large-scale requests, additional time may be required.

5. Emergency requests

For emergency situations involving imminent harm, law enforcement agencies can request expedited assistance. These requests must be clearly marked as "Emergency" in the subject line and sent to evidence@weex.com. We will prioritize such requests for immediate review.

We will not review or reply to any request submitted by non-law enforcement agencies. Non-law enforcement officials such as private individuals or law firms should directly contact local law enforcement agencies if you are aware of an emergency situation.

6. User privacy protection

We value user privacy and will only release data to law enforcement when legally required. We comply with all relevant privacy and data protection laws and will not provide information without proper legal authority.

7. International requests

For requests from international law enforcement, we may require mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT) documents or other formal international agreements. International requests must comply with applicable laws and international treaties.

8. Notice of request

Unless clearly stated in the valid legal order, or a valid legal basis has been provided by you that your request must be kept confidential, we may inform the relevant user before disclosing any personal data.

9. Disclaimer

Nothing contained herein shall be construed as our consent to any law enforcement request or our submission or acceptance to any jurisdiction. Each case will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

 

We expressly reserve all our rights, including, but not limited to, the right to challenge jurisdiction and pursue any and all legal and equitable remedies available to us.
