What is a contract address?
A contract address consists of an address and its associated contract code.
On blockchains like Ethereum, when an ERC20 token is created by deploying a smart contract, the system will automatically generate a contract address. This address is used to store and execute the contract’s code.
It is important to note that the contract address does not have a private key. In other words, it's not like a regular wallet address that can be controlled by an individual. Instead, it functions as a “programmatic account” that executes code automatically.
What is a wallet address?
A wallet address is generated by randomly selecting a 256-bit binary number and processing it through cryptographic algorithms. This is a one-way process, that is, you can generate a wallet address from a private key, but you cannot reverse-engineer the private key from the address.
Unlike contract addresses, wallet addresses have private keys, allowing users to securely control their assets.
